EVENING SERVICE
To celebrate the visit to our Presbytery by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, members of congregations from the north of Skye are invited to attend a joint service which will be held in Staffin Church at 6.00 pm and at which the Moderator will preach.
Immediately after this service there will be a time of fellowship held in Columba 1400.
It is hoped that this service will be well supported by our congregation and that those with their own transport might offer lifts to those who have not. Consequently there will be no Evening Service in Portree Church.
Sunday School meets every Sunday during the school term. They meet initially in the Church before moving to the Church Hall.
Youth Fellowship will resume on Sunday 1 September.
The Ladies’ Bible Study Group resumes on Tuesday 27 August. The group meets in the Church Hall on Tuesdays from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon. All ladies welcome.
Vestry Hour : The Minister will be in the Vestry each Tuesday evening from 5.45 to 6.45 pm. to discuss any matters that members of the congregation might wish to raise with him.
The Prayer Fellowship group will meet in the Church Hall at 7.00 pm this coming Tuesday evening. All are welcome to attend.
Coffee Mornings : Coffee Mornings, in aid of church funds are held in the Church each Thursday from 10.30 – 12.00 Please come and support this fund raising initiative.
Kirk Session : A meeting of the Kirk Session will be held in the Manse at 7.30 pm on Thursday 29 August. For those Elders who have not received electronic copies of these documents, Minutes and Agenda are available in the Front Vestibule.
Church Magazine – Summer Edition
The deadline for receipt of articles is Monday 2 September.
Congregational Soup & Pudding : All members of the congregation are invited to a Soup & Pudding Lunch in the Church Hall after morning worship today. This will provide the opportunity for a time of fellowship together and an opportunity for the congregation to meet the Moderator and her husband
Iona 2014 : Rev. David Kellas, Glenelg, is in the process of arranging for a group of 15 people from Churches within our Presbytery to take part in an Open Week in the Abbey on Iona in 2014.
Full details of likely dates and costs are given in the notice which has been posted in the Front Vestibule.
David Kellas has indicated that anyone interested in this event must contact him by Saturday 7 September at the latest.
Sunday 1 September : In his role as Interim Moderator for Kilmuir & Stenscholl Parish, Sandor will be conducting a Communion Service in Staffin Church on the morning of 1 September. In his place, Rev. John Murray will lead worship at our 11.00 am service and this will be followed at 12.30 pm by a Gaelic Service.
This service is open to all, from any church, who would wish to attend. Please inform anyone you know who might be interested in attending.
Congregational Board : A meeting of the Congregational Board will be held in the Manse at 7.30 pm on Thursday 5 September.
Children’s Hospice Association Scotland – Ceilidh with CHAS
Maria McGill, Chief Executive of CHAS will be giving a talk about the work of CHAS in The Aros Centre from 2.00 – 4.00 pm on Thursday 12 September. Further details are in the poster and leaflets which may be found in the Front Vestibule.
