Intimations – Sunday 26 January 2020

After Morning Worship Fellowship : After Morning Worship today     Tea , Coffee, Juice and biscuits will be served in the Church.  Please stay behind for as long or short a time as you can manage and enjoy a time of

fellowship with other members of the congregation and with visitors to our church.

Our Praise : This morning our praise items are taken from Church Hymnary Third Edition (CH) and those at evening services are taken from Mission Praise (MP).

If you feel more comfortable sitting during the items of praise, please feel free to do so.

Crèche:    There is a crèche in the Church Hall behind the Church if anyone wishes to leave their children there during the morning service.

Sunday School :  The group meets every Sunday during the school term.   The young people meet initially in the Church before moving to the Church Hall.

The Ladies’ Bible Study Group : The group meets in the Church Hall on Tuesdays from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon.   All ladies welcome

The Prayer Fellowship : Due to the ongoing work by Scottish Water the Fellowship group is cancelled until further notice.

Pastoral Visits :  The Minister asks that he would be kept informed of

any member of the congregation who is ill, in hospital or would

welcome a visit from him.

New Communicant Members :   Any Adherent who would wish to become a full communicant member of the church should speak to the Minister at the end of the service or contact him by telephone.   We would dearly love to see more Adherents take up full communicant membership of the church and take Communion on 12 April.

Flowers in the Church :

Would you like to join the small team of volunteers who provide the weekly floral arrangements in the church ?

If so, please speak to Catriona Leslie who will give you all the details.

Church Magazine :  Articles for the Easter / Spring edition of the Church magazine can now be handed in.     It would be appreciated if articles could be typed and either placed in the Magazine Folder in the Vestibule or, preferably, emailed to the editor at wwm74marl@hotmail.com     Handwritten articles can still be placed in the folder.

Retiral Offering :  The Retiral Offering for January will be taken at both services today.

Last year the response of the congregation to the retiral collections was wonderful with almost half the cost of the new windows in the Church Hall being raised

In addition to the outstanding balance on the windows, we now need to address another costly matter – the skews on the West side of the church roof are defective and allowing water ingress.  Like the work done earlier to the East skews a lead capping will be applied.  Along with the expense of the required scaffolding the cost of this necessary repair will be in the region of £9,000.  Two separate applications for a grant to assist with the cost this work were regrettably unsuccessful.

It is the responsibility of the Congregational Board to maintain the condition of church properties and at its last meeting approval was given to engage contractors to carry out this work.

It is hoped that the positive response shown by the congregation during 2019 will continue this year to fund these essential costs.
