Close up of Pulpit fall in memory of Bet Haldane

Sunday School & Youth Fellowship meet every Sunday during the school term,   initially in the Church before moving to the Church Hall.

The Ladies’ Bible Study Group meets in the Church Hall on Tuesdays from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon.   All ladies welcome.

The Prayer Fellowship meets in the Manse at 7.00 pm each Tuesday evening   All are welcome to attend.

Presbytery Social Event : On Tuesday 26 January at 6.00 pm, Presbytery will be holding an event at Columba 1400 with a meal and social evening at which the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rev Dr Angus Morrison, will be the guest speaker.

The meal will comprise a hot and cold two course buffet meal provided at a cost of £10 per adult incl. of tea/coffee with children paying half price.        As this is a midweek function and some of those attending will be travelling a considerable distance, the evening should be finished by 8.15pm.

If you wish to attend please place into the box in the Front Vestibule an envelope containing the appropriate amount (cheques should be made payable to Portree Church of Scotland) and the names of those wishing to attend.

For catering purposes Columba 1400 requires to know numbers attending by TODAY.

Congregational Board: A meeting of the Congregational Board will be held in the Manse at 7.30 pm on Thursday 21 January.

Kirk Session : The rescheduled meeting of the Kirk Session will be held in the Manse at 7.30 pm on Thursday 28 January.

Pastoral Visits : The Minister asks that he would be kept informed of any member of the congregation who is ill, in hospital or would welcome a visit from him.

Church Magazine : The next edition of our magazine is due to be issued for Easter which is very early this year, falling on Sunday 27 March.

We need articles about your memories of Easter in your past, your thoughts on how it is celebrated today, your favourite hymns, poems, humorous stories, etc.

Please submit your items as soon as possible to enable an early start to be made on this edition. Items may be left in the folder in the Front Vestibule or, preferably, emailed to Trevor Dee at trevordee@btinternet.com

New Communicant Members :   Any Adherent who would wish to become a full communicant member of the church should speak to the Minister at the end of the service or contact him by telephone.   We would dearly love to see more Adherents take up full communicant membership of the church and take Communion on 27 March.

Sunday School : Shift patterns and workload associated with full time employment is putting a great strain on the existing Sunday School leaders regarding the teaching of the children on Sunday mornings. If at least two volunteers were to come forward to become involved this would ease these difficulties. It would be expected that volunteers would only need to teach the children on one week out of four.

The Christian education of our younger members is an essential part of their learning experiences and we hope that this call will be answered.

Further information on what is required can be obtained from Kay MacKinnon.
