INTIMATIONS
Covid :
While the wearing of face-coverings and maintaining social distancing is no longer a legal requirement, The Scottish Government and the Church of Scotland advice is that in indoor settings the continuation of these practices should be encouraged.
With the continuing high number of cases of Covid cases in and around Portree, and the increasing number of visitors to our island we would strongly recommend that :-
- Face-coverings (unless exempt) should still be worn in the church and throughout the service – including during the singing of praise items.
- Social distancing on entry to, and exit from, the church as well as when sitting in the pews – the small markers on the pew shelves are spaced at 1-metre intervals.
The existing cleaning and disinfecting regimes will continue with the church fully sanitised after each service.
All these procedures are designed to minimise the risks to anyone attending worship in the church.
Sunday Evening Services :
Evening services are held in the church each Sunday and commence at 6.00 pm.
Ladies’ Bible Study Group :
The Ladies’ Bible Study Group meets in the Hall at 10.30 am each Tuesday. The group will be delighted to welcome any new ladies who would want to join them in fellowship and friendship.
Bible Study & Prayer Fellowship Services :
These services are held in the Church at 7.00 pm each Tuesday evening. All are invited to attend.
Pastoral Visits : The Minister requests that he be kept informed of any member of the congregation who is ill, in hospital or would welcome a visit from him.

Contributions can be handwritten or typed and can be placed in the red magazine folder in the Front Vestibule. If articles are typed it would be appreciated if these could be emailed directly to wwm74marl@hotmail.com
We hope to publish this edition by Sunday 28 August, so contributions should be submitted please by Sunday 14 August.
St Columba’s Episcopalian Church – Bread Basket :
A reminder that our friends in the Episcopalian Church are providing free lunches for school children on Wednesdays during the summer holiday period and would welcome the help of any volunteers to serve food, wash up and generally chat to those attending. Children attending must be accompanied by an adult.
Assistance with cooking would also be welcomed but volunteers for this task must have kitchen and hygiene certificates.
The Bread Basket serves food from 11.00am to 2.00pm, so if you are available and interested please go along and introduce yourself to the St Columba team.
Retiral Offering for July :
A Retiral Offering will be taken at the end of both services today.
This collection will go towards the costs of major projects in our church buildings.
Preparatory Service and Communion Sunday :
Prior to the Communion Service to be held next Sunday, 07 August, a Preparatory Service will be held in the church at 7.00 pm on Tuesday 02 August
All members of the congregation are invited to attend.
The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated during both services on Sunday 07 August.
Members of the congregation are asked to bring their own piece of bread to this service.
Individual disposable glasses and a sealed container of wine will be set out at each pew seat.
New Communicant Members : Any Adherent who would wish to become a full communicant member of the church should speak to the Minister at the end of the service or contact him by telephone. We would dearly love to see more Adherents take up full communicant membership of the church and take Communion on next Sunday, 07 August.
