YOUR OFFERINGS TO THE CHURCH

Obviously during this period of lockdown the income of the church has been drastically reduced while the expenditure has remained unchanged.

For those of our congregation who donate by Bank Standing Order, your offerings are received directly as normal and I would thank you for continuing to give by this means.

Over the last weeks several members of our congregation have contacted me regarding new payment arrangements for their offerings.  This has been greatly appreciated and obviously helps the church with its cash flow.

There are several different methods by which you can continue to support the church during this period of lockdown :-

  • If you give your offerings via the Freewill Offering Envelopes, please continue to put aside your normal offering each week and bring these with you on the first Sunday you return to the church after the reopening has been confirmed.
  • If you give your offerings to the church via the Open Plate, please continue to set aside this amount each week and bring the total amount with you on the first Sunday you return to the church after the reopening has been confirmed.
  • Anyone can if they wish send to my home address, 3A Balmeanach, The Braes, Portree, IV51 9NH, a cheque (payable to Portree Church of Scotland) – no cash please, for the amount collected to date. Please write your name and address and FWO envelope number on the back of the cheque or write your name and address and “Open Plate” on the back.
  • Anyone who would wish to start making their offerings by Bank Standing Order can email me at wwm74marl@hotmail.com or phone me on 01478 650405 and I will send out to you a Banker’s Order Form for you to complete and hand in to your own bank.

When “normal” church services resume the former arrangements for the collection of offerings will, for reasons of hygiene, require to be changed.  This is just one of the aspects of reopening which Kirk Session will be discussing and, once again, you will be kept informed of the changes.

I wish to thank everyone for their continued support for the church during this difficult period and look forward to seeing each and every one of our congregation once it is safe to do so.

Keep well and keep safe

God bless you all

Treasurer
