Intimations – Sunday 13 November 2016

Remembrance Sunday

Our Praise :  Normally at our morning services the items of Praise are taken from Church Hymnary Third Edition (CH3) and those at evening services are taken from Mission Praise (MP).

If you feel more comfortable sitting during the items of praise, please feel free to do so.

Retiral Collection :  At the end of the service, as you leave the church, there will be an opportunity to make a donation to Poppy Scotland.  Money raised during the Scottish Poppy Appeal is used to provide vital support to the Armed Forces community living in Scotland.

Please note that this collection is separate from the Offering taken during the service which goes to the work of the church in Portree and beyond.

After Morning Worship Fellowship : After Morning Worship today     Tea , Coffee, Juice and biscuits will be served in the Church.  Please stay behind for as long or short a time as you can manage and enjoy a time of fellowship with other members of the congregation and with visitors to our church.

Crèche:    There is a crèche in the Church Hall behind the Church if anyone wishes to leave their children there during the morning service.

Sunday School and Youth Fellowship meet every Sunday during the school term.   They meet initially in the Church before moving to the Church Hall.

The Ladies’ Bible Study Group :  The group meets in the Church Hall on Tuesdays from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon.   All ladies welcome.

The Prayer Fellowship meets in the Manse at 7.00 pm each Tuesday evening.   All are welcome to attend.

Kirk Session / Congregational Board : A joint meeting of the Session and Board will be held on the Manse at 7.00 pm on Thursday 10 November with a Kirk Session meeting following thereafter.

Preparatory Service :   A Preparatory Service will be held in the Church at 7.30 pm on Friday 18 November.

Communion :  Communion will be served at both morning and evening services on Sunday 20 November.

Church Magazine :  The closing date for articles and items for the Christmas edition of the magazine is Sunday 20 November.  To date relatively few items have been received. Please remember that this is your magazine.

Articles should be placed in the folder in the Vestibule or preferably emailed to Trevor on trevordee@gmx.co.uk Note change of email address!

Pastoral Visits :  The Minister asks that he would be kept informed of any member of the congregation who is ill, in hospital or would welcome a visit from him.

New Communicant Members :   Any Adherent who would wish to become a full communicant member of the church should speak to the Minister at the end of the service or contact him by telephone.   We would dearly love to see more Adherents take up full communicant membership of the church and take Communion on 20 November.

Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal :  This year we plan to have all boxes donated by members of the congregation gathered at the front of the church.  On Saturday 26 November the boxes from various churches and schools will be taken to our Hall where a short service will take place.

Tea and coffee, provided by Blythswood will be served after this service.

Volunteers are sought to set up the Hall beforehand and serve the tea/coffee.  If willing to help please give your name to Roddy Beaton.

Blythswood Shoe-Box forms are available in the Front Vestibule.

Volunteers :  For the start of next year volunteers are sought for

  • Cleaning duties in the church and the hall ( Heather Quaye)
  • Door duty and/or readers (Donna McEwan)
  • After Morning Worship Tea rota (Bill Marshall)

If you can help with any of these please give your name to the person responsible.
