Fishers of Men - Hector Sutherland Pulpit Fall

Intimations – Sunday 18 September 2016

Fishers of Men - Hector Sutherland Pulpit Fall

Sandor’s Annual Leave :  Sandor is at present taking Annual Leave with his family in Hungary.  On  9 October, he will preach his brother Lazlo into his new parish in central Hungary.

Sandor returns to duty on Wednesday 12 October.

During his absence urgent pastoral matters should be referred to the Session Clerk, Bill Marshall, who may be contacted on 01478 650 405.

We are delighted to welcome back to our pulpit, Rev David Kellas, Glenelg. who will lead worship at both morning and evening services during Sandor’s absence.

Harvest Thanksgiving :   Kirk Session has agreed that the Harvest Thanksgiving Service this year will take place today.  It also agreed that all donations made should be directed towards those in need in Portree and other areas of Skye.

Helping Hands has been identified as the most appropriate organisation to receive our donations and they will liaise with various other agencies (Social Services, CAB etc) to ensure that help is directed to where it is most needed.  Cash donations would be the most acceptable form of donation as this allows Helping Hands to make bulk purchases at more competitive prices.   Cash donations should be placed in the bowls in the Front Vestibule as you are leaving church today.

Kirk Session also agreed that the September retiring collection and any white envelopes received during September will be directed to Helping Hands.

Sunday School and Youth Fellowship normally meet every Sunday during the school term.   They meet initially in the Church before moving to the Church Hall.

There will be no Sunday School or Youth Fellowship next Sunday due to the school holiday.  They will both resume on Sunday 2 October.

The Ladies’ Bible Study Group meets in the Church Hall on Tuesdays from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon.   All ladies welcome.

The Prayer Fellowship meets in the Church Hall at 7.00 pm each Tuesday evening.   All are welcome to attend.

Playing of the Organ / Electronic Organ in Church :  If anyone in the congregation has the ability to play the piano and thinks that they could help the church by playing on an occasional Sunday morning or evening we would be delighted for them to come forward and give their name to Sandor or Bill.

Please do not be concerned about any mistakes in playing.  The congregation will appreciate your willingness to come forward to play and remember, only God is perfect !

Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal :  Blythswood Shoe-Box forms are available in the Front Vestibule.

This year we plan to have all boxes donated by members of the congregation gathered at the front of the church.  It is being arranged that all churches and organisations collecting boxes bring these to our Church Hall for Saturday 26 November after which a short service will be held.

The Ladies’ Bible Study Group will be hosting a coffee morning and White Elephant stall in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support in the Church Hall on Saturday 24th September.  Any baking and bric-a-brac donations from the congregation would be greatly appreciated.

Please contact Catherine Stewart on 01478 612316 for further information.

Food Bank : Please remember that there is a box in the Front Vestibule into which donations of groceries can be made throughout the year.  These are delivered to Helping Hands on a regular basis.
