After Morning Worship Fellowship : After Morning Worship today Tea , Coffee, Juice and biscuits will be served in the Church. Please stay behind for as long or short a time as you can manage and enjoy a time of fellowship with other members of the congregation and with visitors to our church.
Crèche: There is a crèche in the Church Hall behind the Church if
anyone wishes to leave their children there during the morning service.
Sunday School meets every Sunday during the school term. They meet initially in the Church before moving to the Church Hall.
Youth Fellowship will meet in the Church Hall from 7.15 to 8.30 pm tonight.
Vestry Hour : The Minister now holds a regular Vestry Hour when he is available to discuss any matters that members of the congregation might wish to raise with him. These meetings are held in the Vestry each Tuesday evening from 5.45 to 6.45 pm.
The Ladies’ Bible Study Group meets in the Church Hall on Tuesdays from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon. All ladies welcome.
The Prayer Fellowship group will meet in the Church Hall at 7.00 pm this coming Tuesday evening. All are welcome to attend.
Coffee Mornings : From now until Spring, the church coffee mornings will be held only on the first Thursday of the month. They will be held in the Church Hall from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon.
Summer Opening of the Church : During July-August a total of 2,766 visitors from all around the world came in to see our church. The comments in our Visitors Book indicate how pleased people were to see the beauty of the Church and many came in and sat for a moment of quiet reflection or prayer. The lovely layout of flowers and plants surrounding the Church was also greatly admired.
Sunday School : Any member of the congregation who would be prepared to assist the teaching staff with the children on Sunday mornings for a school term (Summer to October ; October to Christmas ; New Year to Easter or Easter to Summer) is asked to give their name to Bill Marshall.
Harvest Thanksgiving Sunday : Kirk Session has agreed that Sunday 29 September is to be designated as Harvest Thanksgiving Sunday. It also agreed that all donations made should be directed towards those in need in Portree and other areas of Skye.
Helping Hands has been identified as the most appropriate organisation to receive our donations and they will liaise with various other agencies (Social Services, CAB etc) to ensure that help is directed to where it is most needed.
Cash donations would be the most acceptable form of donation as this allows Helping Hands to make bulk purchases at more competitive prices. If preferred, or in addition, food items from the list available in the Front Vestibule may be brought and left in the special box which will be placed in the Front Vestibule.
Kirk Session also agreed that in September there would be no retiring collection for the ongoing building maintenance programme and consequently any donations made via the white envelopes will be directed to Helping Hands.
The donations will be collected at both services on Sunday 29 September.
Lost : Following the recent Soup & Pudding Lunch, a plastic box with the owner’s name on it has been inadvertently taken from the kitchen. If anyone has this box the owner would be grateful if it were returned to the kitchen.
