INTIMATIONS
Covid :
While Covid is still present in the community, the majority of our congregation are now fully vaccinated against the virus.
At the last joint meeting of the Kirk Session and Congregational Board it was felt that we could now relax our previous strong recommendation that face coverings should be worn in the church.
The wearing of these face coverings will now be a matter of personal choice.
The cleaning and disinfecting regime in the church will continue, but at a reduced frequency. It will still be sanitised before each Sunday worship.
Sunday Evening Services :
Evening services are held in the church each Sunday and commence at 6.00 pm.
Ladies’ Bible Study Group :
The Ladies’ Bible Study Group meets in the Hall at 10.30 am each Tuesday. The group will be delighted to welcome any new ladies who would want to join them in fellowship and friendship.
Bible Study & Prayer Fellowship Services :
These services are held in the Church at 7.00 pm each Tuesday evening. All are invited to attend.
Sunday School :
Sunday School has resumed with those attending staying in the church for the first part of the service before moving up to the Church Hall.
If required, a creche facility will be available.
Sunday School has been one of the biggest casualties of the Covid lockdowns and the lack of younger members of the congregation has far reaching consequences for the future membership of the church.
We hope that members of the congregation will spread the word of the group meeting again and encourage families and friends to bring, or send, their children on any Sunday.
Pastoral Visits : The Minister asks that he be kept informed of any member of the congregation who is ill, in hospital or would welcome a visit from him.
Church Magazine – Christmas Edition :
It’s only 6 weeks to Christmas ! What is Christmas without Carols, Turkey and the Portree Church magazine !
Please, please, please let us have YOUR contributions for this edition. They can be as long or as short as you like and on any topic.
As usual, contributions can be place in the red folder on the wall of the Front Vestibule or sent to me at wwm74marl@hotmail.com
Publication date will be Sunday 11 December so it would be wonderful if your contributions were received before Sunday 4 December.
Preparatory Service and Communion Sunday :
Prior to the Communion Service to be held next Sunday, 20 November, a Preparatory Service will be held in the church at 7.00 pm on Tuesday 15 November
All members of the congregation are invited to attend.
The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated during both services on Sunday 20 November.
Members of the congregation are asked to bring their own piece of bread to these services.
Individual disposable glasses and a sealed container of wine will be set out at each pew seat.
New Communicant Members : Any Adherent who would wish to become a full communicant member of the church should speak to the Minister at the end of the service or contact him by telephone. We would dearly love to see more Adherents take up full communicant membership of the church and take Communion on Sunday 20 November.
Home Communion :
If any communicant member of the congregation is unable to attend worship and would wish to take communion at home the Minister is very happy to arrange this. Please contact him regarding this matter.
We would ask other members of the congregation to inform any communicant member they know of this available provision.
Life & Work Subscriptions 2023 :

Covid :
While the wearing of face-coverings and maintaining social distancing is no longer a legal requirement, The Scottish Government and the Church of Scotland advice is that in indoor settings the continuation of these practices should be encouraged.
With the continuing high number of cases of Covid cases in and around Portree, and the increasing number of visitors to our island we would strongly recommend that face-coverings (unless exempt) should still be worn in the church and throughout the service – including during the singing of praise items.
The existing cleaning and disinfecting regimes will continue with the church fully sanitised after each service.
All these procedures are designed to minimise the risks to anyone attending worship in the church.
