INTIMATIONS
Covid :
While Covid is still present in the community, the majority of our congregation are now fully vaccinated against the virus.
The Kirk Session and Congregational Board have decided that we could now relax our previous strong recommendation that face coverings should be worn in the church.
The wearing of these face coverings will now be a matter of personal choice.
The cleaning and disinfecting regime in the church will continue, but at a reduced frequency. It will still be sanitised before each Sunday worship.
After Morning Worship Fellowship :
After our Morning Worship today, Tea , Coffee, Juice, and biscuits will be served in the Church. Please stay behind for as long or short a time as you can manage and enjoy a time of fellowship with other members of the congregation and with visitors to our church.
Sunday Evening Services :
Evening services are held in the church each Sunday and commence at 6.00 pm.
Sunday School :
Sunday School is closed for the Summer holiday period. Classes will resume on Sunday 20 August.
We hope the young people (and their Sunday School leaders) have a good break and we look forward to seeing them back in church in August.
Ladies’ Bible Study Group :
The Ladies’ Bible Study Group has closed for the Summer holiday period. Group meetings will resume on Tuesday15 August.
Bible Study & Prayer Fellowship Services :
These services are held in the Church at 7.00 pm each Tuesday evening.
All are invited to attend.
Pastoral Visits :
The Minister asks that he be kept informed of any member of the congregation who is ill, in hospital or would welcome a visit from him.
Church Magazine – Summer Edition
Please consider using one of these wet, windy or cool July days to write an article for the Summer edition of your Church Magazine.
Articles can for example, be on a favourite hymn or passage from the Bible, your favourite poem (or one of your own) a famous or less famous person, or any topic that you think would be of interest to those reading the magazine.
Contributions can be handwritten or typed and can be placed in the red magazine folder in the Front Vestibule. If articles are typed it would be appreciated if these could be emailed directly to wwm74marl@hotmail.com
We hope to publish this edition by Sunday 27 August, so contributions should be submitted please by Sunday 13 August.
Basis of Union (Deferred) :
Copies of the official Church of Scotland document detailing the terms of the above Union of Portree Church of Scotland and Kilmuir & Stenscholl Church of Scotland are available in the Front Vestibule.
At morning worship today, all Members and Adherents of the church will be issued with a voting card on which they are asked to indicate if they accept the terms of Union.
Simply delete either “I agree to” or “I do not agree to” and place your voting card in the box as you are leaving the church.
The results of this voting are for the information of Presbytery who retain the final decision regarding the proposed Union.
Gardening Volunteer Sought :
We are looking for a volunteer to take care of the grass cutting of two small areas at the back of the Church Hall. The areas are not suitable for cutting with a mower and would require a strimmer to be used. If necessary, a strimmer will be provided.
If willing to take on this task please give your name to Bill or Roddy.
