Foodbank Update
At this testing time we felt it appropriate to update you on the Foodbank.
We have had a huge increase in demand this year prior to the start of the pandemic affecting us directly.
In 2019 we distributed 1076 bags and by mid March this year we had already distributed 296 bags.
Since then demand has soared. Food donations have fallen in the short term with people making less trips to the supermarket and we urgently seek your support, this still being our prime source.
You can see from first photo, the gaps in our stock reserves.
We have however been overwhelmed by the efforts of the community to assist and have had renewed financial support.
Photos 2 & 3 show our new stock and some volunteers after we secured an order from a wholesaler via local retailer, whom we are grateful to.
At times like this we turn to scripture and in Luke 9 v16-17 we have these words-
‘ Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. They all ate and were satisfied.’
Jesus fed the hungry that day and we seek your prayers that he will guide us today so that the vulnerable in our community will be fed.
The Foodbank are indebted to the Church for the full use of the hall at present and as a committee we send our sincere thanks.
Remember the message we regularly hear and so true that God is simply just a prayer away.
Take care and every blessing to you all.
Mary, Mogie and Roddy (Foodbank Committee Members)
