Covid :
While the wearing of face-coverings and maintaining social distancing is no longer a legal requirement, The Scottish Government and the Church of Scotland advice is that in indoor settings the continuation of these practices should be encouraged.
With the continuing high number of cases of Covid cases in and around Portree, and the increasing number of visitors to our island we would strongly recommend that face-coverings (unless exempt) should still be worn in the church and throughout the service – including during the singing of praise items.
The existing cleaning and disinfecting regimes will continue with the church fully sanitised after each service.
All these procedures are designed to minimise the risks to anyone attending worship in the church.
Sunday Evening Services :
Evening services are held in the church each Sunday and commence at 6.00 pm.
Ladies’ Bible Study Group :
The Ladies’ Bible Study Group resumes in the Hall at 10.30 am this Tuesday. The group will be delighted to welcome any new ladies who would want to join them in fellowship and friendship.
The current topic is a discussion on the Book of Ruth.
Bible Study & Prayer Fellowship Services :
These services are held in the Church at 7.00 pm each Tuesday evening. All are invited to attend.
Pastoral Visits : The Minister asks that he be kept informed of any member of the congregation who is ill, in hospital or would welcome a visit from him.
Healing for Hurting Heart course : A six week Zoom course on this topic, starting on Thursday 27 October, is being offered and may be of interest to anyone who has experienced bereavement, conflict, illness etc.
A poster giving full details of the course and how to apply has been posted in the front vestibule.
Sunday School :
We are delighted to announce that after an absence of more than two years, Sunday School classes have resumed. However, they will not operate during the school holiday period and consequently the next meeting of Sunday School will be on 30 October.
If required, a creche facility will be available.
Sunday School has been one of the biggest casualties of the Covid lockdowns and the lack of younger members of the congregation has far reaching consequences for the future membership of the church.
We hope that members of the congregation will spread the word of the reopening and encourage families and friends to bring, or send, their children on the 30th of this month.
We are extremely indebted to Megan Mackenzie for offering to take classes.
Meetings of Congregational Board and Kirk Session :
A meeting of the Congregational Board will be held VIA ZOOM on Thursday 27 October, commencing at 7.00 pm. Kirk Session will meet at the end of the Board meeting.
All papers, minutes and agenda are available in church today. At the beginning of the week, Donna will send out the Meeting ID and Password for the meeting.

Almighty and everlasting God,
in you there is neither beginning nor end;
you are from everlasting to everlasting, ever good and ever true.
You are our hope in life and in death,
and in your word of promise we place our trust. Today we give thanks for the life of your servant, our Queen Elizabeth,
whom now you have taken to be with you.
Long has she reigned over us,
offering support and courage,
a steadying hand in difficult days,
and a kindly presence in times of peace and prosperity.
We praise you for her life,
so rich in years and in service,
for her unwavering commitment to country, commonwealth, and every generation.
And for her trust in Jesus Christ,
her devotion to the church, and her respect for other faiths,
receive our thanks today.
May she rest in peace and let light shine upon her.
In their loss, comfort her family,
especially our King as he assumes his new responsibilities;
assure them of your unending love,
grant them the consolation of cherished memories,
and the hope of your promised kingdom.
These prayers we offer in the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN.
