Covid :
While the wearing of face-coverings and maintaining social distancing is no longer a legal requirement, The Scottish Government and the Church of Scotland advice is that in indoor settings the continuation of these practices should be encouraged.
With the continuing high number of cases of Covid cases in and around Portree, and the increasing number of visitors to our island we would strongly recommend that :-
The existing cleaning and disinfecting regimes will continue with the church fully sanitised after each service.
All these procedures are designed to minimise the risks to anyone attending worship in the church.
Sunday Evening Services :
Evening services are held in the church each Sunday and commence at 6.00 pm.
Ladies’ Bible Study Group :
The Ladies’ Bible Study Group meets in the Hall at 10.30 am each Tuesday. The group will be delighted to welcome and new ladies who would want to join them in fellowship and friendship.
Bible Study & Prayer Fellowship Services :
These services are held in the Church at 7.00 pm each Tuesday evening. All are invited to attend.
Pastoral Visits : The Minister has resumed these visits and asks that he would be kept informed of any member of the congregation who is ill, in hospital or would welcome a visit from him.
Church Magazine Summer Edition
While we might not have been noticing too much of the sunshine and warmth these last few weeks, why not consider using another of our wet, windy or cool days to write an article for the Summer edition of your Church Magazine.
Articles can for example, be on a favourite hymn or passage from the Bible, your favourite poem (or one of your own) a famous or less famous person, or any topic that you think would be of interest to those reading the magazine.
Contributions can be handwritten or typed and can be placed in the red magazine folder in the Front Vestibule. If articles are typed it would be appreciated if these could be emailed directly to wwm74marl@hotmail.com
We hope to publish this edition by Sunday 28 August, so contributions should be submitted please by Sunday 14 August.
St Columba’s Episcopalian Church – Bread Basket :
A reminder that our friends in the Episcopalian Church are providing free lunches for school children on Wednesdays during the summer holiday period and would welcome the help of any volunteers to serve food, wash up and generally chat to those attending. Children attending must be accompanied by an adult.
Assistance with cooking would also be welcomed but volunteers for this task must have kitchen and hygiene certificates.
The Bread Basket serves food from 11.00am to 2.00pm, so if you are available and interested please go along and introduce yourself to the St Columba team.
A Very Important Date for your Diary :
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt Rev Dr Iain Greenshields will lead worship at both morning and evening services in our church on Sunday 24 July 2022.

The Highland Climate Festival is June 25 – July 4 this year. As part of this various events are running across the area. We will be running a drop in café out of Broadford Church of Scotland on Monday 4th July from 2-4pm.
This is an event when you can ask / talk about things that might bother or puzzle you about climate change over a cuppa and cake, and may lead to looking at things that could be done.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with this event, if you have a grasp of what climate change is and can help share the role the church has to play in this please contact Anne email or phone 07426 776415.
